OMGOMGOMGOMG! Look who is in the National Newspapers, THE STRAITS TIMES.
Anyway, its some article about how S.Korea wants to use Kpop as a platform to boost ties with us ASEAN countries. And I quote"They don't know me, but they know the names of all the korean actors." says A cambodian minister. And they also hold quotes from Super Junior's Leeteuk and SNSD's Tiffany.
Leeteuk says: "When we have concerts in other countries, we try to learn their language. It's not impossible to overcome the language barrier."
Tiffany says: "We are here to promote music and music is universally felt by everybody, so I think its okay as long as we sing with our hearts."
The important part as I see is this " South Korea and Singapore, he added, could also look at forming joint ventures to explore new markets - a topic likely to be discussed when leaders from the two nations meet for next month's summit."
I hope they see it fit to discuss using KPOP to generate more interest in the Korean market. And then, Unusual will see why they were wrong to deny my request to bring TVXQ or Super Junior to Singapore. Laugh in their faces, and rush to buy the concert tickets.
I love the fact that Channel U (free to air television channel) is going to air Boys Over Flowers. Hopefully, our ministers and their family will watch and get addicted to the show (like all other mortals I known), love their characters(eg, irresistable JunPyo with curly hair and JiHoo) and eventually create some campaign to promote KPOP! Good example: I mean, the sales of Samsung phones will surely shoot up cause F3 are endorsing it I swear, hence increasing exports of korean goods to Singapore. Singapore trade goes up, consumersim is boosted and its a win-win situation for Singapore and S.Korea.
Maybe finally finally, we can have a SMTOWN love in SINGAPORE. Or maybe they will create some Korean Festival again(this time more successful than the previous one) and bring in SNSD, Super Junior, SS501 etc.) If anyone can create this hype and give joy to all us KPOP fans in Singapore, its our government.
And The Straits Time features Wonder Girls with their hit Nobody on Sunday for all the hype the song is generating everywhere. I mean Nobody was so long ago, is the rest of the world not into Gee? Anyway the point is, I hope the media, the government, companies and everyone else in Singapore can finally understand and note that Korean Pop is dominating the music industry now. So can they hurry up and catch up with the rest of the world? Thailand and Malaysia are already holding these Kpop concerts and what do we Singaporeans have? A tiny Kpop night which doesnt even sell tickets. Come on, bring some more kpop stars to Singapore too(besides Seo In Young)!
P/s: This is such an insightful article compared to the whole Nobody article.
